Mercury Mall breakfast club knitters donate hats and blankets to Queen's Hospital

The Mercury Mall’s Monday morning breakfast club knitting group has been busy knitting 65 blankets and hats for charity.  The charitable knitters are donating their handy-work to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Queen’s Hospital.

The knitting club was started last April, at first there were only six members but there are now 15 members ranging from 15 years-old to 87.  Cheng Ang, a ward sister at Queen’s Hospital, said: “We’d like to thank all the ladies who have been knitting hats, gloves and blankets. “They will be a great help this Winter and something we can give to the parents when they take their baby home”.

Breakfast club knitter & Mercury help desk ambassador Carol Fletcher said: "We are most grateful to both Wilko and Poundland who generously donated the majority of the wool we use. “Next year we plan to knit for the Snowdrop Room at Queens, which is for the precious babies that are born sleeping.”
