Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a great success!
Residents took a break from their shopping to enjoy cakes and support The Mercury in raising money for Macmillan.
Visitors to The Mercury Mall in Romford were invited to have a cake and a cuppa on Friday, September 28 as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. As well as a mouthwatering selection of cakes baked by members of the Mercury’s staff and Breakfast Club ladies, there were also knitted and crocheted novelty cakes as soft toys for children and handmade cards. “It has been a fabulous day with many people taking the time out to take a break from their retail therapy to enjoy the fantastic selection of cakes on display,” said Natalie Bays, deputy centre manager of The Mercury. “We raised a staggering £265.35 proving, once again, just how generous shoppers can be.”
Centre retailers McDonald’s and Godfrey’s The Bakers also contributed to the event by donating doughnuts and cakes.
